I am an intern in the Taiwan Explore Education Program (TEEP) internship grant. I am currently doing a E-learning design research internship at National Chiayi University within the E-learning Design and Management department.
Here, I observe and report on E-learning tools and practices at Taiwanese elementary schools. I learn about the virtual reality initiative in Taiwanese schools and am currently working on teaching about New York City in a Chiayi City-wide extended reality (XR) international education live-learning project at Lan-Tan Elementary School.
1 \\ Extended Reality (XR) Project
The government of Chiayi City in Taiwan is launching an extended reality (XR) initiative where sixth graders all across the city will watch a live broadcast that combines a lesson presentation immersed in a virtual reality space.
The topic of my lesson presentation is about New York City and its cultural landmarks and distinguishing characteristics.
Our project was the first XR E-learning project broadcasted and run in Taiwan, entirely in English.
An article covering the project was published on a Taiwanese News source here!
2 \\ Teaching School Lessons
In the elementary schools, I observe and take notes on the teaching practices of the Taiwanese teachers and foreign English teachers.
I often help out the teachers by participating in class activities with students and checking their work, and also reading aloud English skits.
I created lesson presentations to teach about New York City, American Society, the U.S. Education System, Asian American History and Culture, and even about Iceland's Unique Geological Formations.
New York City (presentation linked above!)
American Society: U.S. Geography, New York City Ethnic Enclaves, and the U.S. Education System
I taught a presentation about American Society to a class of Taiwanese sixth grade students in their Society class, spoken mostly in Chinese.
